My review shows what to expect when you eventually buy the Samsung A11 and if your money is worth it. The device comes with an impressive upgrade compared with other entry-level smartphones.

Design and body build

Galaxy A11 design is unique and has a sleek design. The device feels smooth while holding it in your hand. It comes in different color variants including black, blue and white. At the back, top left is the triple-camera setup and a single LED flashlight by the side. The back also has a fingerprint sensor at the top middle close to the triple rear cameras. The Galaxy A11 has a selfie camera housed in the top-hole punch display and a 3.5mm audio jack on the top. The volume and power button is on the right side of the phone while the SIM card and MicroSD slot are on the left. The USB-type charging port and speaker sit at the bottom of the device. The device has a body built with glossy plastic at the rear which attracts dirt on the device. To maintain the body build, users should use a case. The frame is also made of plastic just like the rear which makes the device light with an overall weight of 177g.

Display: Big screen with a better view

In terms of display, Samsung A11 comes with an impressive big screen size of 6.4-inch Infinity-O Display. The display is bright but lacks that attraction because of the resolution.

This guarantees users of a great viewing experience while watching their favourite videos, games and live streams in vivid HD+ TFT. You get to watch the latest movies on Netflix, play games, and surf the internet with a bigger screen.

Samsung A11 triple camera

The device has three cameras at the rear consisting of a 5 MP ultra-wide camera, 13 MP main camera and 2 MP depth camera. It also comes with a single LED Flashlight close to the triple camera setup.

All the controls to take pictures are within the reach of the hand of users. The advanced 2MP depth camera blurs out unwanted background noise from your images to make them look more professional. You can control the blur effect from the camera. The feature ‘live focus’ is similar to the portrait feature in most modern smartphones. For selfies, the Samsung Galaxy A11 is equipped with an 8 MP camera housed in the hole punch on the top left of the display. The selfie camera doesn’t have a flashlight and performs well in good lighting. Video can be recorded with (1920 x 1080) at 30fps resolution. Ultra-wide angle video recording is only supported on the rear camera and also applies to photos.

Samsung Galaxy A11 software, performance and storage

Samsung A11 ships Android 10 out of the box based on Samsung’s custom version of Android 10, also known as One UI 2.1. The UI comes with dark mode for the device with enhanced graphics display with the operating system.
The Samsung A11 is powered by Qualcomm SM4250 Snapdragon built on an 11nm process with an advanced Octa-core CPU featuring Cortex-A53 at 1.8GHZ, and 2GB RAM delivering smooth and efficient performance while the graphics come with Adreno 506 GPU. The chipset in the Samsung A11 guarantees high performance, reliable user experience, power efficiency and a trusted security feature like the fingerprint sensor. Many apps can be opened and run at the same time without the performance slowing down or freezing. In terms of storage capacity, the device comes with 32 GB internal storage and an expandable memory capacity of up to 512 GB through a microSD card.

Gaming performance

The Snapdragon chipset is the strongest and allows an amazing gaming experience using the Samsung A11. The gaming performance is on average because of the RAM size and storage so I don’t expect hardcore gamers to have high expectations while using the device. Below is a picture of me playing the Football PES 2021 on the device.

Battery and Connectivity

The device is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery that lasts for more than 48 hours and can power up with up to 15W Fast Charging using the USB type C port at the bottom. In terms of connectivity, the Samsung A11 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth v4.2. Most of the games downloaded need WiFi services and the device did not have any trouble while connecting to other WiFi or Bluetooth devices.

Security

The device has a rear fingerprint scanner that enables users to unlock their devices easily. Another security feature on the Samsung A11 is face recognition which allows you to unlock the phone by holding it to your face. Both features guarantee safe data and security you can trust.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy A11 is one of the most affordable and best entry-level smartphones launched in 2020. For the price, the smartphone is okay but the main camera can be improved. Also, the RAM size for me should have been 3GB instead of 2GB but as I said earlier for this price it is okay. If you have a higher budget and love playing games very well then I would advise you to go for the A30 or A51. I still don’t know why Samsung didn’t include the NFC for the A11. Users can’t use Google Pay, Samsung Pay, or any other contactless payment applications on the device and need to consider that before buying. But If you are looking for an entry-level smartphone with an affordable price that gives you the best camera, better display and excellent battery life then the Samsung Galaxy A11 is the right choice for you.
