Design and Build

The packaging of the charging case is cool. The charging case is wrapped with the Doodle Edition sticker design, and at the front, you will see Camon x Mr Doodle! On the earbuds is also inscribed Mr Doodle! on the blue layer. The design of the earbuds is lovely.

The earbuds fit securely and comfortably with their ergonomic design. The Sonic 1 True Wireless earphones are a good set of well-rounded earbuds that fit securely and comfortably with their ergonomic design. The earbuds come in three different sizes of ear tips, which means you can always find the perfect fit for your ear. The ear tips are made of soft silicone, which helps create a seal that blocks out ambient noise.

The earbuds are made of plastic, and each weighs 4.65g, which makes them lightweight. While using the earbuds, I moved my head left and right and kept on nodding for it to fall, but I didn’t notice it leaving my ear. Furthermore, unlike previous earbuds used, the Sonic 1 doesn’t cause earaches, headaches, or pains as a result of using it for a very long period of time.

The Sonic 1 Doodle edition earbuds have a touch-sensitive control on each side of the earbud. With these controls, you can play, pause, call, activate voice assistant, and perform other operations on the earbud. Overall, it has good design and build quality. 

Sound and Call Performance

The earbuds did a wonderful job when it came to listening to my favorite music tracks. The bass wasn’t that powerful, but I felt a touch of it.  ‘powerful’ but it was present. Vocals were clear and crisp, and highs and lows sounded well-mixed.

TECNO built a sound mobile application for the TECNO Sonic 1, which can be downloaded and installed on iOS and Android. The name of the app is “AUDPUD.”. With the app, you get to experience improved sound quality and bass, but it needs some improvement as it isn’t user-friendly.

For the call quality, I could hear the sound clearly and vice versa with no background noise. The TECNO Sonic 1 features dual-mic noise cancellation. However, you only get a noise cancellation for phone calls, as music playback doesn’t offer any active noise cancellation during my review. 

Battery Life and Connectivity

Each earbud has about 45 mAh of battery capacity, which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to get from 0 to 100%, while the charging case comes with an 800 mAh battery and takes about 3 hours to get fully charged. According to TECNO, the Sonic 1 Doodle Edition Wireless Earbuds can last for about 50 hours. That statement is true, as it served me for about 50 hours on heavy usage with non-stop music playing times.

The earbud connects well with any device it is paired with. It can be connected to your iPhone, Android devices, laptops, and other smart devices. Once the earbud is connected to any device, it automatically connects at any time when you remove the earbud from the charging case. 

How to connect the Oraimo TECNO Sonic 1 Doodle Edition Wireless Earbuds with Smart Devices

• The first thing is to open the case and remove the earbuds
• The earphones will enter into TWS pairing mode
• When powered on, the white light flashes for 1 second and then the white light flashes quickly on both earphones
• The left and right earphones will connect successfully in three seconds and then enter pairing mode.
• The master earphone flashes blue and white light alternatively and the earphone light goes off
• Switch on your device’s Bluetooth and search for “TECNO Sonic 1.”
• After connecting with the user device, both of the earphones’ lights stop flashing, indicating ‘Pairing successful’

Each earbud has touch-sensitive areas that allow the user to control the functions of the earbuds. Here are some controls for the earbuds you should know:

1. The earphones will be powered on automatically while opening the charging case
2. Put the earphones into the charging case and close it. The earphones will be powered off automatically
3. To play or pause music, tap on any of the earbuds (left or right) twice.
4. To play the next track, tap twice, or for the previous track, long press on the left or right earbuds for two seconds three times
5. To activate the voice assistant, tap the button on the left or right earbud three times
6. To answer a phone call, tap on any of the earbuds twice.
7. To hang up the phone call, tap on any of the earbuds twice.
8. To refuse to answer a phone call, long-press on any earbuds for 2 seconds.
9. To increase volume, swipe down on the right earphones 
10. To decrease volume, swipe down on the left earphones

We could not test the water resistance feature, but if you wish to do that, ensure you don’t stay under the rain for too long so you don’t get any components damaged. It is also important to note that this earbud is not good for game enthusiasts, as the latency can be noticed while playing high-end games.
