Hyundai has recently introduced the upgraded version of the Elantra N for the 2024 model year in the North American market, bringing significant improvements. Among the most prominent changes are the redesigned headlamps, creating a distinctive feature for this model compared to its predecessors.
The front section, including the bumper, radiator grille, and fascia, has been refined, along with adjustments to the rear aerodynamic diffuser and bumper, resulting in a powerful and athletic appearance that may attract a broader audience.
Another noteworthy change is the newly designed 19-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, which are 33 pounds lighter than before, reducing unsprung weight. Hyundai aims to enhance flexibility and reduce vibrations by reinforcing the engine mount membrane while strengthening G-bushing and revamping S/ABS insulation to improve damping, steering, and yaw responses. The Electronic Controlled Suspension (ECS) features updated software optimized for braking and hardware modifications.
To complement these improvements, the tolerances of the steering system’s gearbox have been heightened to provide a more direct driving experience. Additionally, a low-friction universal joint has been added for increased precision, and software for the electronically assisted steering system has been updated. Even the tire pressures have been increased to support higher front-axle loads.
Under the hood, the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine delivers 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque. Activating the N-Grin over-boost mode, also featured in the electric Ioniq 5 N, drivers can enjoy an extra 10 horsepower, pushing the total power output to 286 hp for short bursts.

While these figures fall short compared to segment rivals like the Toyota GR Corolla and Honda Civic Type R, the Elantra N has consistently been recognized for its lower price tag. Pricing for the 2024 model year is yet to be disclosed, but for reference, the current model starts at $32,900 before freight and handling charges. A slight increase in price is anticipated to accommodate all these upgrades.
The 2024 Elantra N retains the standard 6-speed manual transmission, with the 8-speed DCT featuring over-boost mode offered at a premium. With no changes to the power units, the upgraded version is expected to maintain its EPA-estimated fuel economy, currently at 22/31 mpg (city/highway) for the manual variant and 20/30 mpg for the DCT.
The facelifted 2024 Hyundai Elantra N will hit dealerships in January 2024.
