12 Remote Job openings in Ghana and Nigeria as Twitter expands to Africa

Twitter has announced plans to open its first African office in Ghana and the company will employ 12 people for different remote positions.

The jobs advertised on Twitter website include 12 remote specialists roles to join several teams including product, design, engineering, marketing and communications.

Staff Designer – Global Participation

As Staff Designer, you will help us customise the Twitter experience to best meet the needs of our customers in Africa. You’ll use your deep understanding of the unique ways that people use Twitter in Africa starting with Ghana and Nigeria to highlight gaps in our global product strategy and ensure that Twitter is successful and locally relevant across the region. You’ll work with a horizontal cross-functional team covering everything from engineering to business development and product marketing to make this happen, which will be dedicated to this work.

Curator

The ideal candidate for this role should have a deep, non-partisan, understanding of Nigerian news and politics. They should feel comfortable fact-checking content related to politics, medical science or local news. They must also be capable of quickly and accurately identifying the best Twitter content across multiple verticals including News, Sports and Entertainment. In addition to curation, members of this team work collaboratively and are encouraged to support curation and projects of other verticals.

While this role is primarily focused on English and English Pidgin content, working proficiency in one or more of the following languages is an advantage: Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo.

This role is based in Accra, Ghana and focused on Nigeria. You may need to work weekends.

Curation Deputy Lead (Desk Lead) – Editorial Curation

The ideal candidate will have experience of content management or editing roles in journalism, publishing, content moderation or a similar industry. They will have a passion for working in a fast-paced, real-time news environment while maintaining quality and implementing processes and policies.

Twitter Senior Researcher – Global Participation

As a member of Twitter Global Participation Research team, you will be embedded on the cross-functional team that is working on building and improving the products and tools that are at the foundation of how customers experience our platform locally. This role specifically focuses on global markets that require cultural context and local customer insights to develop localized products that meet customers needs. You will lead the proactive discovery, exploration and development of customer-centric insights to help this team achieve their goals at a strategic level, while also executing research plans that impact every stage of the product development process, from ideation to implementation.

  • Work with internal/external stakeholders and vendor partners, which will include executing operational strategies for Twitter’s global outsourcing model, through proactive communication and facilitation of cross-functional projects.
