Buyscrap Nigeria marketplace is among 30 startups selected to participate in the eight cohort of the Lagos Innovates Idea Hub Cohort 8.0 Program this year. The early stage start up was selected for the highly competitive (20% admission rate) incubation Program for the innovative recycling marketplace solution the startup is building.
The Lagos Innovates Idea Hub Program is a 8-week incubation program designed to support very early stage tech-enabled ventures with relevant skills, networking opportunities and mentorship from seasoned industry experts to achieve a minimum viable product; geared towards building a competitive and sustainable brand. This edition of the incubation program is in partnership with one of Nigeria’s foremost venture studios, FirstFounders.
Commenting on the news, Joshua also known as the founder of Buyscrap Nigeria, a social enterprise online marketplace connects businesses and individuals looking to recycle or dispose of various materials with local recycling centres, waste management companies, and eco-conscious consumers was very excited to be admitted into Lagos Innovates idea hub 8.0, one of the most highly sought after tech incubation programs in Lagos.
Our innovative marketplace platform aims to make recycling and waste management more efficient, convenient, and environmentally friendly by providing a user-friendly interface that promotes responsible disposal practices and reduces the environmental impact of waste.
According to Lagos Innovates, over 149 startup applications were received, upon which the top 30 participants were shortlisted for an eight (8) week incubation period to hold from February 9 and April 12, 2024. We are excited to announce that Buyscrap Nigeria made it to the final 30 and begins the journey to build our startup into a unicorn, contributing immensely to the economy of Lagos and exponentially creating jobs.
Addressing the selected applicants during the physical orientation session on Friday, 9th February 2024 at training auditorium, Counter Fraud House Co-working Space, Yaba Lagos. Hakeem Onasanya, Hakeem Onasanya, the Head of Lagos Innovates, welcomed the 30 phenomenal founders into the 8th Cohort of the program.
He further said, these founders are going to be taken through various masterclasses by renowned facilitators and industry experts as well as given access to mentorships. We believe that building the capacity of these founders will significantly improve their success rates and position them strategically for funding.
Participants from each startup in the program will also have the opportunity to attend masterclasses and be paired with a mentor who is a distinguished founder and stakeholder in the global tech ecosystem.
At their orientation session, the founders got extensive information on the modalities of the incubation program, and were introduced to other founders in the cohort as well as their mentors, and finally, listened to testimonials from previous idea hub founders, he concluded.
