Two Covenant University lecturers among Six youngest professors in Nigeria

In the history of scholars in Nigeria, the name of Nigeria six youngest Professor will surely be written with a golden pen. They have proven without doubt that age is nothing but a number with their successive accomplishments. Two of the six youngest Professors in Nigeria are faculty members of Covenant University. The two are Professor Evans Osabuohien of the Department of Economics and Development Studies, and Professor Roland Loto of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Professor Evans S. Osabuohien

Professor Evans S. Osabuohien is the former Head of Department-HOD (Economics & Development Studies, Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria). He holds B.Sc, M.Sc and Ph.D (Economics) and started lecturing and researching career in 2004. prof. Evans received Double Promotion to the Rank of a Full Professor of Economics in December 2017, which made him the Youngest Professor in the University at the age of 38. He is a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Management & Economics, Witten/Herdecke University, Germany, and also and Visiting Scholar at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.  In May 2020, prof. Evans was recognised as ‘One of the 6 Youngest Professors Nigeria Ever Had’.

Professor Roland Loto

Roland Loto started his teaching career as a Research Scientist/ Teaching Assistant in the Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering at Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa. He holds BTech (Mechanical Engineering), M.Sc (Metallurgical and Materials Engineering), and DTech (Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering). He became a Professor at the age of 39 in 2017.

Professor Damilola S. Olawuyi

Professor Damilola S. Olawuyi holds a first class degree in law from Igbinedion University, Nigeria and  the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, Nigeria, a doctorate (DPhil) in energy and environmental law from the University of Oxford; a master of laws (LL.M.) from Harvard University; and another LL.M. from the University of Calgary. He was promoted to the rank of Full Professor of Law at the age of 32, becoming one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of law in history. He is presently Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships at Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD).

Professor Charles O. Esimone

Professor Charles  holds  B.pharm, M.Pharm and Phd from University of Nigeria,Nsukka and he became a Professor of Bio pharmaceutics and microbiology at 37. He emerged as the youngest professor in the university and first professor of pharmacy. He is presently the Vice Chancellor at Nnamdi Azikwe University Awka. 

Professor Ahmad Doko

He holds B.Sc degree in Quantity Surveying, M.Sc degree in construction engineering and management and a  Ph.D degree. He served as head of quantity surveying department of the university between 2008 and 2012. Prof. Ahmad Ibrahim Doko was promoted to the rank of Professor of Quantity Surveying in 2015 at the age of 37 making him the youngest professor at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim is the New ABU Director, Directorate of University Advancement.

Late Professor Ayodele Awojobi

Late prof. Ayodele Awojobi holds a first degree in mechanical engineering a BSc (Eng) London,  post-graduate degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering at the Imperial College of the University of London and  a PhD in mechanical engineering in 1966. He became the youngest professor at the age of 32 in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos  in 1974.
