Google One for Android and iOS now offers free phone backups up to 15GB

Google One, the subscription-based cloud service by the search giant has introduced an update that offers free phone backup up to 15GB for Android and iOS users. The automatic phone backup feature that was introduced last year for only paid users is now free for anybody that installs the app — even if they don’t have a paid membership. For iPhone devices, it has introduced a new iOS app that allows you store photos, videos, contacts, and calendar events with Google and it is available for free.

The app saves your data in the cloud using the free 15GB of storage that comes with your google account.

According to Larissa Fontaine, Director Google One “Two years ago we launched Google One: a membership that gives you more out of Google. We started with expanded storage plans, the ability to share your storage with family members, live support for all your Google questions, and member benefits like Google Play credits and Google Store member rewards.

Another new feature added to the app and on the web is the storage manager to easily manage and clean up your files across Drive, Gmail, and Photos. This gives you an easy way to see how you’re using your storage, and free up space. You can keep the files you want, get rid of the ones you no longer need, and make room for more—all in one place.

To fully enjoy the app with additional storage, you can always upgrade to a membership level right from the app. The plans come with different sizes that works best for you starting at $1.99/month for 100GB of data. Members can also share their plan with up to five additional family members and get benefits including premium support and family sharing.

To learn more and get started, download the app. The new features will be available on the Play Store in the coming days for android users, and the iOS app will be available soon. These updates only apply to consumer accounts and will not be available for G Suite business customers.
