Apple on Wednesday launched its first online store in India offering Apple’s full range of products and services directly to customers in the country.
India makes it the 38th market for Apple where it has opened its online store. Apple has been operating in India for more than 20 years, and the company’s ongoing investment and innovation support almost 900,000 jobs across the country.
Apple CEO, Tim Cook tweeted about the company excitement to connect with India customers and expand its operations in the country.

According to a statement on the company website, the newly opened online store will provide customers with the same premium experience found in Apple store locations around the world, delivered by online staff ready to offer their services.
Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail + People said “We’re proud to be expanding in India and want to do all we can to support our customers and their communities.”
“We know our users are relying on technology to stay connected, engage in learning, and tap into their creativity, and by bringing the Apple Store online to India, we are offering our customers the very best of Apple at this important time.”
The online store is the most convenient destination to shop for Apple products, with online Specialists available to help with anything from custom-configuring any Mac to setting up new devices. Consumers can get support learn about new products directly from the company through chat or telephone, both in English and Hindi.
Apple has also made a finance option for those interested in buying any product. A trade-in program offered by Apple Store online with a range of affordable options and discount on any hardware purchases. Students in India can shop for a Mac or iPad with special pricing, and receive discounts on accessories and AppleCare+.
In October, customers can expect free online Today at Apple sessions led by local Creative Pros, focused on photography and music. Just in time for the festive season, signature gift wrap and personalized engraving will be available for select products. Engraving of emoji or text in English, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu will be available for AirPods, and English engraving will be available for iPad and Apple Pencil.
All orders from the online store will be delivered with contactless delivery. Orders that do not require a signature will be left at the customer’s door, and those that do will need only a verbal confirmation from a safe distance instead of a written signature. This has been put in place by the company for the health and wellbeing of team members, consumers and the community.
Over the years Apple has shown more interest in India, the worlds second largest smartphone market after China. Recently in July 2020, it started manufacturing iPhone 11 in the country. As reported by Economic Times, the manufacture of iPhone 11 has already begun in the Foxconn plant in Chennai.
In addition to this, the company is reportedly considering starting the manufacture of iPhone SE at the Wistron plant in Bangalore. It is also reportedly planning to ship iPhone out of India to other countries in order to reduce its dependence on China.
